Whether you are feeling nervous about an upcoming dental appointment, or you want to stay comfortable during extensive treatment, SmileCraft Dental Studio offers anxiety-free options that will keep you safe and calm. Dr. Kasey will listen to your needs and discuss your options while keeping you well-informed about the whole process. Your safety and comfort are our top priorities, and when you are in our care, you will always feel at ease.
As you walk through our doors you’ll be greeted by our wonderful receptionist and offered a comfy seat and fruit-infused water while you wait briefly in our beautiful outdoor welcome area. Next, Dr. Kasey will meet you and give you an office tour highlighting our frequent raffles and our photo wall. Once your exam and any other procedures are finished, Dr. Kasey will answer any questions you may have regarding your oral health. As you leave, our receptionist will schedule your next visit and you’ll be given a personalized thank you basket.
Digital nitrous is a drug-free sedation technique that replaces the use of nitrous oxide with virtual reality (VR). Immerse yourself in tranquil settings like being at a peaceful beach listening to the waves crash or watching flower buds blossom as Dr. Kasey and our team perform your procedure or treatment. Studies show that VR sedation is as effective as nitrous oxide at reducing patient anxiety and pain. Our digital nitrous has little to no risk of inducing nausea or sickness as patients focus only on images in a fixed position. If you have anxiety related to dental visits, be sure to take advantage of our OperaVR and enjoy the calm sensations it has to offer.
If you would like to be sedated during your dental procedure, Dr. Kasey will use laughing gas or an anti-anxiety oral tablet to keep you safe and calm. When this sedative takes effect, it gives you a feeling of euphoria and relaxation. You’ll be awake during your procedure and you will be able to respond to Dr. Kasey, but you’ll be calm and free of stress. Laughing gas is inhaled through a face mask and takes effect immediately. Another benefit of laughing gas is that it wears off quickly, so you can drive yourself home and enjoy the rest of your day as you normally would. We also offer minimal oral conscious sedation, which is taken in pill form. This sedative induces a deep state of relaxation. If you received an oral tablet form, you will be sleepy and groggy. It’s common for patients to fall asleep. If you fall asleep, you can easily be woken up and you will be able to respond to commands. Even if you remain awake, you may forget most or all of what happens throughout your procedure. The side effects of oral sedation can be more intense than those of laughing gas sedation, and can include headaches, nausea, slow reflexes, and drowsiness. These can persist for 4-6 hours or longer after your appointment, so you cannot drive yourself home. If you suffer from dental anxiety or phobia, or if you’re coming in for extensive treatment, give us a call today to go over your sedation options.
Sedation dentistry is commonly used for patients who are nervous about an upcoming dental surgery, such as root canal therapy, the placement of a crown, an extraction, or the placement of a dental implant. Sedation helps you stay comfortable and eliminates pain and discomfort during your surgery. However, we offer sedation for all of our treatments at SmileCraft Dental Studio. This is very useful for patients who have serious dental anxiety, and may be very anxious about routine cleanings, fillings, and other such appointments. We always want our patients to feel comfortable, so we’re happy to accommodate you if you suffer from dental anxiety.
Yes! Dr. Kasey is skilled in administering sedation options. You can relax knowing you are in the hands of an expert who will monitor you closely during your treatment and ensure that everything goes smoothly. Dr. Kasey will walk you through the whole process, so you will be well-informed and know what to expect when the laughing gas takes effect.
Many people can benefit from sedation dentistry. Whether you are nervous about a small procedure, you want to stay comfortable during extensive dental surgery, or you are bringing an energetic, antsy child in for pediatric care, sedation dentistry is used during all kinds of treatments to keep patients safe, calm, and comfortable. Though most people are good candidates for sedation dentistry, your medical history, current medications, and the extent of the treatment you require will have an impact on whether sedation is an option for you. Call us today to go over your information and see if sedation is right for you.
